Wilkinson set for Magny-Cours Sprint Cup debut

Ollie Wilkinson is geared up to make his Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup debut this weekend, 7-9 May at Magny-Cours, as he continues his maiden season as a McLaren Factory Driver with Le Mans-winning team JOTA.

Joining fellow works driver Ben Barnicoat, the British pair will be gunning for a strong start to their Sprint Cup campaign aboard the sole McLaren 720S GT3 of the massively competitive 27-car field, which features no fewer than eight world-class manufacturers.

Although already a top-10 finisher in the Endurance Cup – arguably the world’s most competitive GT3 championship – Wilkinson will take on the series’ Sprint Cup format for the first time in France. The JOTA duo will race into the night for the one-hour sprint on Saturday evening, before tackling the second race on Sunday afternoon.

Wilkinson and Barnicoat will take the challenging night-and-day short-format schedule around the 4.4km circuit in their stride as they join what is set to be a fierce battle for the 2021 Sprint Cup title.

Fans can catch all the action across the weekend with live-stream TV coverage on both the series website and YouTube channel. Don’t forget to also follow Ollie’s social media streams for the latest trackside news across the weekend.
