Wilkinson back on home soil at Brands Hatch for GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup

Ollie Wilkinson returns to home soil on 28-29 August for the next instalment of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup, as the series makes its sole UK stop at Brands Hatch, Kent, this weekend.

Resuming his duties in the JOTA McLaren 720S GT3 alongside fellow McLaren Factory Driver and team-mate Ben Barnicoat, Brands Hatch marks the duo’s first outing since their outstanding seventh place finish (with Rob Bell) at the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa last month.

The JOTA crew ran as high as second in the world’s biggest GT3 event in Belgium, further underlining Wilkinson and Barnicoat’s promising form in the last Sprint Cup outing in Misano, Italy. There Wilkinson’s charge from 12th to seventh paved the way for Barnicoat to challenge for a podium result until a post-race penalty dropped them down the order. Eighth in race two, however, put more championship points on the board for the duo to lie just outside the top ten in the title fight.

Fully refreshed after Spa, Wilkinson now heads to his home round hunting for that illusive first Sprint Cup podium in the #38 McLaren.

The action around the iconic Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit begins with Free Practice on Saturday morning ahead of two 20-minnute qualifying sessions from 15:20, each of which determine the starting order for the two one-hour sprint races. Those take place at 11:05 and 15:45 on Sunday, aired live through both the series website and YouTube channels.

The provisional schedule is outlined below. Follow’s Ollie’s social media channels for the latest news and updates.
